ABSTRACT. Five levels of defoliation (0, 1/6, 2/6, 3/6, and 4/6) at five stages of plant growth (V6, R2, R3, R4 and R5), and their effect on Orba soybean variety were studied. During the V6, R2, and R3 stages, defoliation decreased mean leaf area index, crop growth rate, pod number, seed number and yield. During the R4 stage, defoliation decreased mean leaf area index, seed number, and yield. During the R5 stage, defoliation decreased seed number weight, and yield. The R3 stage were greater than at the V6, R2, R4 and R5 stages. The economic damage was determined to be 6.3, 6.3, 5.8, 6.1 and 7.2 percent defoliation at the V6, R2, R3, R4 and R5 stages, respectively.
